Ted Cruz’s 21-Hour Senate Speech Was Full Of a Lot Of Hot Air

After 21 hours of orating, Senator Ted Cruz’s one-man jeremiad against Obamacare has officially come to an end.

What in the world are we to make of it?

Certainly the punditocracy has not come up short on feedback. Top Republicans are livid at Cruz for what they perceive to be his grandstanding, even going so far as to send research to Fox News correspondent Chris Wallace to be used against him.

What This 1898 War Can Teach Obama Today About Syria

Political insight can come from the darndest places.

On this occasion, inspiration struck me in the midst of insomnia-induced light reading. My nocturnal literary companion, Kristin L. Hoganson’s classic historical monograph Fighting for American Manhood, was discussing the various ways in which Victorian ideals on masculinity influenced America’s imperialist ambitions at the turn-of-the-century.

The Obama Speech On Trayvon Martin Was Brutally Honest — And Magnificent

Liberals … we have our Obama back.

Well, let’s not go too far. Published: mic (June 18, 2013), Live Interview with Huffington Post (June 19, 2013)

Our commander-in-chief had a lot to say during Monday night’s interview with Charlie Rose, but CNN aptly summed it up in four words:

“I’m no Dick Cheney.”

If I may, Mr. President, I’d like to respond to that claim with a question I bet all of your supporters (many of them now erstwhile supporters) are asking:

“Yes, but why the hell aren’t you Barack Obama?”

Obama Has Failed to Live Up to Previous Statements About Marijuana Decriminalization

Published: mic (March 10, 2013)

The marijuana editorial you are about to read begins with a recent speech by Ron Paul and ends with a tongue-lashing penned more than a century ago by a presidential prostitute.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Last Friday, former Congressman Paul (R-Texas) spoke to a gathering of prominent Canadian conservatives to declare that “the drug war needs to be repealed.”

Second Inaugural Special: Barack Obama

Jan 21, 2013 | History, mic, President Obama, President Obama's Second Inauguration

Published: PolicyMic (January 21, 2013)

“Are you going to the inauguration?” It’s not an uncommon question to hear in Washington, D.C., especially when you’re on the Metro in the wee hours of the morning with seemingly no other reason to be there. “Yes,” I responded. “That’s where I’m heading.”

“Really? As a spectator?”
